Our Water Services
We provide an end-to-end range of water infrastructure services, each available as a standalone engagement or as part of a fully integrated turnkey project.
Borehole Drilling
Professional borehole drilling using DTH (Down-the-Hole) and rotary rigs capable of reaching up to 800m. We drill 4"–20" diameter boreholes for domestic, commercial, agricultural, and institutional clients. All boreholes are developed, tested, and handed over with full MoW documentation.
View Borehole Drilling →Water Pumping Systems
Supply and installation of submersible pumps, surface pumps, solar-powered pumps, and booster systems. We engineer the right pump for your yield, head, and demand — with correct panel sizing, cable installation, and commissioning for reliable long-term performance.
View Water Pumping →Water Storage
Design and construction of water storage systems including polyethylene tanks, steel tanks, elevated water towers, and underground reservoirs. We handle complete civil works, structural design, and integration with your pump and distribution network.
View Water Storage →Water Treatment
Borehole water in Kenya frequently carries high mineral content, hardness, fluoride, or biological contamination. We supply and install the appropriate treatment technology — sand filtration, reverse osmosis, UV disinfection, softening, or chlorination — based on laboratory water analysis.
View Water Treatment →Hydrogeological Water Surveys
Pre-drilling site assessments using geophysical techniques including Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) and Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) to identify optimal drilling zones, estimate aquifer depth, and predict yield potential — significantly reducing the risk of a dry or low-yielding borehole.
View Water Surveys →How a Typical Water Project Works
We manage every phase of your project — from the first call to the day water flows from your tap. Here is the standard process for a turnkey borehole and water system installation:
-
1Free Site Consultation
Our team visits your property to understand your water requirements, existing infrastructure, terrain, and access. No charge, no obligation.
-
2Hydrogeological Survey
We conduct geophysical surveys to pinpoint the best drilling location, estimate depth to water-bearing rock, and predict sustainable yield.
-
3WRA Permitting
We prepare and submit all required documentation to the Water Resources Authority on your behalf, including the drilling permit application and environmental compliance.
-
4Borehole Drilling & Development
Drilling commences to the required depth. We install PVC or steel casing and screens, then develop the borehole by airlift pumping to maximise flow and clear drilling debris.
-
5Pump & Electrical Installation
A correctly sized submersible or solar pump is installed with all rising mains, control panels, and cabling. Overhead or ground-level storage tanks are constructed as required.
-
6Water Testing & Treatment
Water samples are sent to a certified laboratory. We design and install the right treatment system based on the results to ensure your water meets Kenyan drinking water standards (KS EAS 12).
-
7Commissioning & Handover
The complete system is tested under operating conditions, your team is trained on operation and maintenance, and you receive full as-built documentation and WRA compliance certificates.

Why Choose Vajra Drill for Water Solutions in Kenya?
MoW & EPRA Licensed
We hold all licences required by the Ministry of Water & Sanitation and are EPRA registered for solar and pump installations. We manage permits, compliance documentation, and abstraction licensing — protecting your investment and avoiding costly shutdowns.
20+ Years of Field Experience
Our engineering team has operated across Kenya's diverse geological formations — from the murram belts around Nairobi to the basement complex of Eastern and the volcanic terrain of the Rift Valley. Depth of experience that prevents costly mistakes.
True Turnkey Delivery
One contract, one team, one point of accountability. We survey, drill, pump, store, treat, and commission — eliminating the delays and blame-shifting that come from using multiple contractors.
Solar Integration — Unique in Kenya
We are the only water solutions company in Kenya that also operates a full solar division. Our borehole clients can get solar-powered pumping included in the same contract — achieving zero electricity running costs and complete off-grid water supply.
Nationwide Service Coverage
Primary operations in Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Machakos, and Kajiado, with active project teams covering Eldoret, Mombasa, Kisumu, Embu, Kitui, and the wider national territory. No remote site is beyond our reach.

Frequently Asked Questions
Borehole costs in Nairobi vary based on depth, diameter, geology, and the equipment required. A typical residential borehole in Nairobi ranges from KES 350,000 to KES 900,000 for drilling alone. A complete turnkey system including pump, tank, and treatment will vary accordingly. We provide detailed quotes after a free site assessment — so you know exactly what you are paying for before any work begins.
Yes. Under the Water Act 2016, all boreholes in Kenya must be registered with the Water Resources Authority (WRA), and a drilling permit must be obtained before work begins. Vajra Drill handles the entire permitting process on your behalf — from application to final abstraction licence. Drilling without a permit risks fines, borehole closure, and legal liability.
Borehole depths in Nairobi typically range from 80m to 200m, depending on location. Areas like Karen, Langata, and Kikuyu tend to encounter water at shallower depths, while some zones in Eastlands or the industrial area may require deeper drilling. Our hydrogeological survey identifies the optimal target depth for your specific site before any drilling begins.
A standard residential borehole project in Nairobi typically takes 4–8 weeks from site survey to final commissioning, including WRA permitting. Larger commercial or multi-phase projects are scoped and scheduled individually. The most significant variable is WRA permit processing time, which we manage proactively to avoid delays.
Raw borehole water quality varies significantly across Kenya. Some boreholes in Nairobi produce high-quality water requiring only basic disinfection, while others — particularly in the Rift Valley — can carry excess fluoride, high mineral content, or bacterial contamination. We always conduct laboratory water analysis as part of our handover process and install the appropriate treatment system to bring your water to KS EAS 12 (Kenya drinking water standard).
Yes — and we strongly recommend it for most applications in Kenya. A solar-powered borehole eliminates your pump's electricity running costs entirely and provides reliable water supply independent of grid power outages. Because Vajra Drill operates both water and solar divisions, we design and install your solar pumping system correctly from the start, ensuring the solar array is correctly sized for your pump's specifications and daily water demand.
Yes. We offer scheduled preventive maintenance contracts for borehole pumps, water treatment systems, and solar equipment. We also provide reactive call-out services for pump failures, yield decline, or treatment system faults. Regular maintenance significantly extends equipment life and prevents costly emergency breakdowns.
